About Us

Wych Cross is owned, managed (and largely hand built) by a group of friends who acquired the semi-derelict site in 1986. Now one of the principal small garden centres of the region it still retains the family atmosphere which has been critical for its success.

We try and make all customers welcome as guests and over the years many have become good friends. (Most of our current staff started out as customers!) Our aim is favourably to surprise people with the quality of what we sell and the service we provide. ytyt

The Centre has a strong Christian ethos and - possibly uniquely for a garden centre - we do not open on Sundays.

Although unashamedly a Garden Centre we are one of those increasingly rare breeds - a Garden Centre that specialises in plants! We have comprehensive ranges of ornamental trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials, hedging, fruit and seasonal bedding, but it is our rose offering that really marks us out.

Gardening is a life-long learning experience and all gardeners, whether horny-handed professionals or complete beginners, need help and advice on this journey of discovery. This is where the Wych Cross emphasis on a people friendly environment is so important.

Between them the horticultural staff boast qualifications from The Royal Horticultural Society, Tresco Abbey Gardens, the renowned horticultural colleges of  Pershore, Writtle and Merrist Wood, and the Horticultural Trades Association. (The 'Rose Expert', a former Chairman of the British Rose Growers Association even has a degree in history from Oxford!)

Oh yes............We also own a Routemaster. (It's a long story!)
